Inaugural Webinar Session #CelebratingEntrepreneurship
“Celebrating Women Entrepreneurship” presented by ALSiSAR Impact Pvt Ltd and SBI Foundation with TISS as Knowledge Partner
To honor entrepreneurial resilience during the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) era, SBI Foundation, Tata Centre for Social Entrepreneurship (CSE), and ALSiSAR Impact launched a 6-part webinar series titled “Celebrating Entrepreneurship in the Time of COVID-19.”
The inaugural session, held on 25th July 2020, drew over (Insert Number) participants globally and focused on Entrepreneurs Working in Conflict Zones. The panel featured:

Session Highlights
Ms. Kalyanasundaram opened the session by highlighting SBI Foundation’s support for social entrepreneurship through initiatives like SBI Youth for India Fellowship and Gram Seva.
Prof. Majumdar emphasized the role of entrepreneurship in solving real-world problems. The panelists shared their journey in conflict zones:
- Abid Rashid shared how women in his community inspired him to create FastBeetal, a door-to-door delivery service supporting local sellers, particularly women.
- Navjot Sawhney discussed his innovation—a low-cost, manual washing machine designed to reduce physical strain for women in rural and conflict-affected areas.
- Navjot emphasized the importance of turning everyday jugaad into scalable, impactful solutions, especially for underserved communities and refugee camps.
The session highlighted the resilience of entrepreneurs working in conflict zones, showcasing how innovation and passion are being used to solve real-world problems in some of the most challenging environments. It was a powerful reminder of the impact of entrepreneurship on global development.
